The Pulse of Resilience: Why May is the Month of the Grief Warrior

By Lise Robinson, BSW Founder, LR Wellness

As we enter May 2026, the world around us is in a state of renewal. Here in Treaty 6 territory, the buds are breaking, and the ground is softening. But for many in our communities, "softening" the heart to process grief is the hardest work there is.

For 36 years, I have walked alongside individuals and communities as a social worker. I have seen the heavy toll that unsupported, "silent" grief takes on a family’s spirit. But more importantly, I have seen the Revolution that occurs when a community decides that healing will no longer be a lonely path.

Honoring the Past, Protecting the Future

The Grief Warrior Revolution was born from a place of deep personal honor—for my Mother and for the six family members I have lost. Their legacy isn’t just in my memory; it is in the tools I have spent three decades refining to help your community thrive.

Grief is not a problem to be "solved." It is a journey that requires a map, a tribe, and a warrior’s heart.

What’s Happening This Month at LR Wellness

This month is a critical turning point for First Nations leadership across Canada. We are officially opening the doors for our 2026 Sponsored Intake, and the response has been humbling.

We aren’t just offering a program; we are handing over the keys to a Masters Community Building Toolbox. This includes:

  • 100 Sponsored Participant Seats: Making healing accessible to all.

  • Coordinator Training: Ensuring that when our sessions end, your community’s capacity stays.

  • Grief-Informed Charter: Policy support for leadership to weave wellness into the very fabric of the Band office.

The May 15th Deadline: Why Now?

Our program launch is set for June 1, 2026. To ensure every community receives the specialized attention and resource toolkits they deserve, we have set an application deadline of May 15.

We are looking for communities that are ready to say: "The cycle of unsupported grief stops with us. Our children deserve to grow up in a grief-informed world."

Join the Revolution

Whether you are a Chief, a Health Director, non profit groups, an educator, or a parent, you have a role in this. We have the coloring books for the "Little Heroes," the toolkits for the educators, and the strategic framework for the leaders.

Will your community be part of the 2026 cohort?
