Supporting Healing, Strong Families & Resilient Communities: Resources from LR Wellness
By Lise Robinson | LR Wellness
Every community has its own strengths, challenges, traditions, and priorities. When we support people where they are, provide practical tools, and create safe opportunities for healing and connection, we help build stronger families and more resilient communities.
At LR Wellness, my work is centered on community building, healing, grief support, leadership development, and practical wellness resources that can be adapted to the needs of organizations, families, schools, and community programs.
I am pleased to share a collection of programs and resources that may be helpful to community leaders, program coordinators, parents, caregivers, educators, and individuals.
Community & Leadership Development

Master’s Community Building Program Strong communities need strong leaders. The Master’s Community Building Program is a comprehensive 12-week certification program designed to provide community leaders with practical tools they can use in their organizations and communities.
Topics include:
Grant writing
Strategic planning
Sustainable community development
Nation-building
Emotional intelligence
Leadership development
Self-care and burnout prevention
Building stronger community relationships
The program is designed to help leaders move from ideas to action while strengthening their own capacity to lead.
Flexible & In-Home Learning Not everyone can attend an in-person workshop. That is why LR Wellness also offers flexible learning options for individuals who prefer to participate from home or within their own support networks.
Online and flexible options can make training more accessible for:
Parents and caregivers
Community members
Elders
Youth
Staff working remotely
Individuals who may not be comfortable in traditional training environments
Tailored Workshops & Team Building Every organization has different needs. Workshops can be customized around your community or organization's priorities, including:
Team unity
Leadership development
Communication
Emotional wellbeing
Community connection
Workplace wellness
Self-care
Resilience
Grief-informed practice
The goal is simple: create practical learning experiences that people can take back into their everyday lives.
Healing, Grief & Family Resources
Grief touches every community. The loss of a loved one, changes within a family, community tragedies, historical trauma, or significant life transitions can affect children, adults, families, workplaces, and entire communities. Healing does not look the same for everyone. LR Wellness offers resources designed to help individuals and communities create space for grief, healing, connection, and hope.

Grief Warrior Program The Grief Warrior Program provides a structured approach to understanding and moving through grief. The program incorporates practical and culturally respectful healing approaches, including teachings and tools such as the Medicine Wheel and Ho'oponopono.
It is designed to help participants:
Understand grief and loss
Honor the people and relationships they have lost
Identify healthy coping strategies
Reconnect with their strengths
Develop emotional resilience
Explore pathways toward healing
Move forward while continuing to honour their loved ones
Grief does not mean forgetting. Healing can mean learning how to carry our love differently.

Grief-Informed Charter for Organizations Organizations also experience grief. A workplace, school, community organization, or team may be supporting people through the death of a loved one, community tragedy, major transition, or other significant loss. The Grief-Informed Charter for Organizations provides a framework for creating more compassionate and trauma-informed environments.
It can help organizations consider:
How grief is recognized in the workplace
How leaders respond when someone experiences loss
How teams can support grieving colleagues
How policies and practices can become more compassionate
How to create psychologically safer environments
A grief-informed organization recognizes that people cannot always leave their life experiences at the door.
Helping Children Process Grief
Children experience grief differently from adults. They may not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Sometimes their grief appears through changes in behaviour, questions, withdrawal, anger, sadness, or simply needing extra reassurance. That is why creative and age-appropriate tools can be so valuable.

Grief Warrior: A Coloring Book for Little Heroes This children's coloring resource gives young people an opportunity to explore feelings of loss, strength, connection, and hope through creativity. Coloring can provide children with a gentle way to express emotions that may be difficult to put into words.

Building Together: A Coloring Adventure Building Together introduces children to themes of:
Community
Friendship
Connection
Cooperation
Belonging
Unity
Creative resources can become conversation starters between children, parents, caregivers, teachers, and other trusted adults.
A Complimentary Resource for Parents, Caregivers & Educators I also want to make a resource available to families and educators who may be supporting a child through grief. Google Docs: Sign-in 1 (designrr.page)
A Guide for Parents and Teachers: Helping Children Cope with Grief This resource offers practical guidance for adults who want to better understand and support children experiencing loss. Please feel free to share this resource with parents, caregivers, teachers, and families in your community. Sometimes one simple resource, shared at the right time, can make a child or family feel less alone. Google Docs: Sign-in 1 (designrr.page)
10 Practical Ways to Help Children Prepare for School
As families prepare for another school year, it is also a good opportunity to support children's emotional wellbeing, safety, and confidence. Here are ten simple practices parents and caregivers can begin using at home:
Establish Consistent Routines: Begin adjusting sleep and wake times before school starts so children have time to settle into a predictable morning and evening routine.
Review Safety & Contact Information: Make sure children know their full name, their parents' or caregivers' names, important phone numbers, and who to contact in an emergency.
Practice Safe Travel Routes: Walk or drive the route to school together. Talk about crosswalks, traffic, bus stops, and what to do if plans change.
Identify Trusted Adults: Help children identify adults they can go to if they feel uncomfortable, worried, lost, or unsafe.
Talk About Feelings: Create regular opportunities for children to talk about how they are feeling. Ask simple questions such as: “What are you looking forward to?”, “Is there anything you're worried about?”, or “How can I help?”
Teach Personal Boundaries: Talk with children about body autonomy, personal space, consent, and the importance of speaking up when something doesn't feel right.
Talk About Digital Safety: Establish age-appropriate household expectations around devices, privacy, social media, passwords, and online communication.
Create an Emergency Plan: Make sure everyone knows what to do if there is an unexpected school closure, emergency pickup, severe weather event, or change in transportation.
Practice Healthy Coping Skills: Teach children simple strategies they can use when they feel overwhelmed, such as deep breathing, quiet time, drawing, journaling, talking to a trusted adult, or taking a short break.

Encourage Kindness & Inclusion: Remind children that small acts of kindness can make a tremendous difference. Encourage them to notice classmates who may feel lonely, new, nervous, or left out. A strong community begins when we teach our children that they belong—and that they can help others feel that they belong too.

Let's Build Stronger Communities Together
Whether your community is looking for leadership development, grief support, family resources, team-building workshops, children's healing tools, or flexible learning opportunities, LR Wellness can work with you to explore what may best fit your needs.
My approach is grounded in more than three decades of social work, community development, lived experience, relationship building, and a belief that communities already hold tremendous wisdom and strength. The role of a facilitator is not to come in with all the answers. It is to listen, create space, share practical tools, and walk alongside people as they build their own pathways forward.
If you are a Chief and Council member, Health Director, Band Manager, community leader, program coordinator, educator, parent, caregiver, or organization looking for support, I would welcome the opportunity to connect.
